The reception was covered 24 hours a day which was very useful to get local information. The staff were lovely and very easy to deal with. The hotel was modern and clean and conveniently located without being too close to the action.
It is very close from the rambla street
The living room is sharing
The staff at Hostal Goya were amazing--very welcoming, oriented us to the city, gave great restaurant and bar recommendations, always available for questions. The staff alone made the stay worthwhile.
Our room was very stuffy with no air flow. The A/C control said it was out of order. If it had been any warmer I'm not sure we would have been able to stay in our room.
Good service. Functional. No problem. But
It's expensive. I paid 60€ per night for a single bedroom with no view. It's the same price than a middle-end hotel (such as Ibis) with less convenience and less space. Also shower lotion and shampoo would have been a good idea...
Close to the metro, shopping and most major sites. I found the room to be comfortable, bed very comfortable and the bathroom was great (especially the shower).
There was no tv or WiFi in the room, only the communal area. Unfortunately at the time of our stay, the air-conditioning was broken but we were provided with a mobile unit instead. The bathroom basin did not have the facility to use a plug.
The friendly, helpful staff; the location of the hostal; and the rooms.
Good location, close to Ramblas, 2 metros, airbus at placa Catalunya, well working air condition, nice breakfast cafe across the street, helpful friendly personnel master many languages (ES, FR, EN, SE etc)
It was in a very convenient location - not far from the Placa de Cataluna, Las Rambla and also metro stations. It allowed us to sleep three people in the room, albeit a bit tight. This was hnady and saved us some money.
It was still quite expensive for the standard of the room and hotel. It was more akin to a backpackers than a hotel. Which is probably reflective of its rating and name, but the cost of the room was not equal with that standard. That may be because of the location.
Fantastic room - spacious for two people with a great bathroom. The room was kept spotlessly clean and all of the reception staff were friendly and incredibly helpful with sightseeing tips. Perfect location in the middle of everything and with easy access to the beach.
At first we were offered a very drab room that seemed old and unkept just off reception. However, after voicing this we were very quickly and efficiently moved without being made to feel we were causing a problem.
good location, but very small room and bad lightling of the window make the lodging uncomfortbale. the service of the reception ist very unprofessional und unstandard.
the hotel did not inform us and confirm with us about the extra charge when we checked out, but decucted the amount from our creditcard without our permission after we leaved Spain, unbelievable!
location, staff, cleaning, free tea/coffee
The single room was clean and modern. Front desk staff was great and helpful. Location is excellent.
the single room was clean and modern. Angel, the manager, was great and helpful. i liked the access they gave me to take a shower even after check-out. the hostel is close to main sights and metro.
the shower in the room is tighny, if i was fatter i couldn't go in. my room was next to the front dask, so i could hear the talking or phon-ringing
The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. It was clean and tidy.
the website is quite misleading in terms of quality of the place. The website itself is extremely good which lends itself the hostal being perceived as better than it was. The room was small and the walls are extremely thin, you could hear people in bed, coughing at night, talking... Yuu are also woken up very early with people walking down the corridor which is very loud. If the price of the room per night was lower (considering it was October and the room rate was still over 100 euros a night) I wouldn't have been as disappointed. We stayed in a 4* hotel just off La Rambla for only 20 euros more that same weekend. Hostal Goya isn't as value for money as we expected.
Very clean, basic but modern, really good quality and value for money. Excellent location and nice staff.
The only thing that was a negative was the room had paper-thin walls meaning we were woken up at intervals through out the night with people coming in and out of the Hostal, or the phone ringing in the lobby etc. You could hear everything going on in the next room. This might have been particular to our room which seemed to be new-ish maybe not in the older parts of the building. I would recommend it though because I think it is still a good place to stay.
